Day 1         Arrive Yangon and transfer                                                        
Welcome upon arrival at Yangon International Airport and transfer to hotel.

Overnight at Yangon

 

Day 2         Yangon Full day sightseeing              (B/-/-)

After breakfast visit beautiful Kandawgyi Lake with the huge mythical birds of the Karaweik Barge in prominent view. On to the Botataung Pagoda, located on Yangon harbor, where you will see many ancient Buddhist relics and artifacts.  Then visit the downtown district and its many old colonial buildings still in use. There is also the Independence Monument in Mahabandoola Gardens, dedicated to Burma’s independence from Great Britain in 1948. The streets are filled with colorful sidewalk markets selling various items both old and new.

Lunch break.

Afternoon we go to stroll around the Scott (Bogyoke) Market (The market closes on Mondays and Public Holidays), built in 1926, this sprawling complex is filled with good and handicrafts of Myanmar and makes is an excellent opportunity for a last shopping spree.

Then, sightseeing includes the colossal reclining Buddha Chaukhtatkyi. We end the day with a visit to the awe inspiring Shwedagon Pagoda, perhaps. The most beautiful pagoda complex in all of Asia.

Then, transfer to hotel and relax at your hotel.

Day 3         Yangon/ Bagan flight and Bagan sightseeing              (B/-/-)  

After breakfast, transfer to airport and fly to Bagan.

Arrive Bagan and we begin our visit to one of Asia’s most stunning archeological destinations with its more than 2,000 pagodas doted the plains along the legendary Ayerwaddy River. Sightseeing includes some of Bagan’s most distinctive pagodas including Shwezigon, a prototype of later Myanmar stupas and Wetkyi-in- Gubyaukgyi, a 13th century ‘cave temple with fine wall paintings. One of the most outstanding is the magnificent Ananda Pagoda, one of the most revered pagodas in all Myanmar and containing four tall standing Buddhas within.

Afternoon sightseeing highlights Sulamani Temple built by King Narapatisithu; Dhammayangyi Temple, a massive later period temple with the finest brickwork in Bagan, and Thatbyinnyu Temple which towers above other monuments of Bagan. We can also visit a Thanaka museum, dedicated to the tree bark and root of the Thanaka tree used in making a fragrant white colored paste which Myanmar women wear for skin beauty and protection from the sun. Visitors can learn how to make and apply the Thanaka paste. As the sun goes down we will be at one of the ideal temple top viewing sites selected by our guide.

Day 4         Bagan sightseeing              (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Early morning go to the bustling Nyaung Oo local market and then visit Minanthu village to see Payathonzu Pagoda means "three pagodas" is a complex of three interconnected shrines, and then next to Tayok Pye Temple, a large temple in Minnanthu .

Afternoon continue our sightseeing of more Bagan impressive pagodas and temples. Sightseeing highlights includes Manuha Temple built by King Manuha to represent his displeasure of captivity, Nanpaya close behind the Manuha and which is also Bagan's first "gu-style" (cave) shrine and next to visit Gubaukgyi Temple, in the old Bagan village of Myinkaba, is an early period temple with well-preserved paintings inside. After that we will visit a lacquer ware craft shop to see the process of hand-making these beautiful pieces. Then visit Lawkananda Pagoda, a riverside stupa rich in history and where the sunset views are excellent.

Day 5         Day trip to Mt. Popa              (B/-/-)                                                    
After breakfast take a leisurely drive (about one hour) through the Bagan countryside to Mt. Popa, which supposedly rose from the ground in a massive earthquake in 442 BC. Mt. Popa is famous as the abode of the Nats (Spirit Gods) and for its panoramic view of the local tropical region. There is a volcanic plug with a temple on top that we can walk up to if we like (777 steps!). On the way to Mt. Popa we will visit a local toddy palm farmer at his hut and see how he collects the toddy palm from the palm trees to make the strong alcoholic toddy palm drink and also the toddy palm sugar candy. Return back to Bagan and free to relax.

Day 6         Bagan – Shwe Pyi Thar Village              (B/L/D)                                  
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to jetty and embarkation time is 10:30 at Irrawaddy Princess Jetty, Welcome Drink and briefing. the board will sail upstream. In the late afternoon stop in at the typical river Village.

Shore excursion time is 1 hour. Back to board and cast off. Continue sailing upstream and Moor overnight on board.

Day 7         Shwe Pyi Thar Village - Yandabo Village              (B/L/D)

In the early morning, continuous upstream to Yandabo Village. Dependant on the base economy is famous for the production of terracotta from the riverbank clay. We see the pottery making process at various stages. Yandabo, historically recognized for the signing of the Yandabo Treaty which took place under a tree on the riverbank in 1826 between the British and Royal Burmese House-hold of Ava. After a short excursion, return back on board and continuous upstream and Moor overnight on board.

Day 8         Yandabo Village - Mandalay              (B/-/-)

Early morning, continue sailing upstream and arrive to Mandalay. Disembark at about 09:00 am. Then, transfer to hotel and the rest of the day is free.

Remarks: Sightseeing may be changed due to the water level and weather condition.

Day 9         Mandalay/ Heho  flight visit Red Mountain Winery and
Inle Lake transfer              (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Transfer to airport for a flight to Heho. After arrival at Heho airport we drive to magical Inle Lake. Situated 900 meters above sea level and 22 km long by 11 km wide, this large shallow lake is in an idyllic setting surrounded by mountains and is home to the Intha people, renowned for their floating gardens and the unique one-legged rowing style of their fishermen. Arrive at Nyaung Shwe Jetty and transfer to your hotel at Inle Lake.

Day 10        Inle Lake sightseeing              (B/-/-)

After breakfast, we travel by small private boat on the lake, visiting the famous Paung Daw Oo pagoda, with its five famous Buddha images (four of which are carried in great ceremony around the lake during the Paung Daw Oo festival) and also nearby Inpawkhone Village where, in houses on stilts, we see traditional silk weaving with hand looms and the processing of lotus blossoms as they are made into beautiful fabric.

After our lunch time break on the lake, visit traditional crafts-making such as blacksmithing, cheroot (local cigar) rolling, and boat making. Then enjoy a boat ride through the Kaylar village observing the many houses on stilts and the ways of life. We will see the floating gardens up close, then on to the ‘Ngaphae Chaung Monastery’ which is an interesting old traditional monastery on the lake. Go to our hotel and overnight at Inle Lake.

Day 11        Indain sightseeing              (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Today we will make a morning visit to the moving 5 days market and then continue on to visit Indain and its enchanting 17th century pagodas. To reach Indain and the nearby village we will take a boat ride up a small scenic creek that runs into Inle Lake, passing villages and water buffalo bathing in the creek as we traverse small ‘dams’ built to slow the flow of water. A few Indain pagodas are being restored but most of them still lie in an abandoned ‘Indiana Jones’ type setting. Then return back to hotel by boat.

Day 12        Day trip to Kakku              (B/-/-)

After breakfast, transfer to jetty and drive to Kakku which is about 33 miles from Taunggyi. There are over 2000 stupas packed closely together in ranks and covering an area perhaps a square kilometer. The main stupa is around 40 meters high, the mass of the spire surrounding it uniformly. Each one is an individual masterpiece. After that, drive back to Inle Lake and transfer to hotel.

Day 13        Inle Lake transfer, Heho/ Thandwe flight and Ngapali Beach

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning transfer to airport to Heho airport for a flight to Thandwe. Arrive at Thandwe airport and transfer to Ngapali Beach.

Day 14       Free day at Ngapali Beach              (B/-/-)

Breakfast at the hotel.

Free to enjoy your own leisure on the beach.

Day 15       Thandwe/ Yangon flight and transfer              (B/-/-)

After breakfast, transfer to Thandwe airport to fly back to Yangon.

Upon arrival at Yangon airport, transfer to hotel and the rest of the day is leisure.

Day 16       Yangon departure              (B/-/-)

Then, transfer to hotel and relax until time for transfer to airport for connect your onward departure flight back home.
